GingerMartian, I think it would more interesting if you pictured real birds and named them, for example robin, sparrow, finch, swallow, grebe, sandgrouse, eagle, etc.

To activate block mode, press and hold down CTRLand move the mouse while pressing the left or right button. You will see a frame with translucent filling.
