For English-speaking users: "Жили-были дед и баба" (There once lived an old man and his goodwife...) is a traditional line to begin a fairy tale. Like this one in Ukrainian, how an old couple adopted a magic duck-girl (but she was forced to left them, because they burned her feathers):
